Summer Suit – L’abito Estivo

Quando indossiamo un abito estivo, estremamente leggero e foderato a metà, ci si domanda immediatamente come sia possibile creare un abito da uno strato così sottile di tessuto.
Ovviamente stiamo parlando di lane, cachemire, cotone, lino e seta, quest’ultimi lavorati benissimo dai maestri sartori italiani.
Ogni tessuto ha ovviamente i suoi pro e i suoi contro e resta a noi decidere quale scegliere e soprattutto per quale occasione. Scopriamole insieme:
– il cachemire, ad esempio, è un tessuto che viene subito associato all’inverno, per calore e morbidezza, proprietà che lo contraddistinguono, ma che in realtà racchiude una piacevole freschezza nelle qualità leggere, adatte all’estate. Un abito un cachemire conserva abbastanza bene la sua forma, sicuramente meglio di uno in lino o in cotone e può essere utilizzato in ufficio;
– la lana , è considerata il tessuto ideale per l’abito estivo, specialmente quando parliamo di leggerezze come ” super 100 ” o addirittura inferiori. Non si stropiccia e consente di affrontare la stagione senza problemi. Tra le lane il ” mohair ” , ricavato da una particolare specie di pecora, è sicuramente uno dei materiali più adatti per un abito estivo, indicato però per abiti da sera, come ad esempio lo smoking;
– la seta , è un tessuto che preso nel colore giusto, renderebbe perfetto un abito estivo. L’unico difetto, se così si può definire, è che noi uomini associamo questo tessuto alla donna, per la lucentezza e la morbidezza, e quindi spesso optiamo per altre soluzioni;
– il cotone , è molto fresco e leggero, caratteristiche che lo rendono perfetto per un abito estivo. L’unico inconveniente è che questo tessuto si stropiccia in fretta, soprattutto nella zona dei gomiti e delle ginocchia, creando pieghe a fisarmonica che accorciano l’abito;
– il lino , volutamente lasciato per ultimo in questa descrizione, è un tessuto sul quale c’è un enorme dibattito visto che in molti sostengono che questo materiale sia adatto solo ad asciugamani bianchi. L’abito in lino è sicuramente fresco e leggero proprio come il cotone, e con la stessa caratteristica, ossia la formazione di quelle ” pieghe” che non a tutti vanno a genio.

When wearing a summer dress, extremely thin and half lined, one wonders how it is possible to create a dress with a fabric so thin. Obviously, we are talking of wool, cashmere, cotton, linen and silk, fine managed by Italian masters tailors. Each fabric has obviously its pros and cons and it is up to us to decide which one to choose and above all for what occasion. Let’s discover their characteristics together:
– Cashmere, for example, is a tissue that is immediately associated to winter, for its warmth and softness, properties that distinguish it, but which in reality can ensure a pleasant freshness in the more thin manufactures, suitable for summer. A cashmere dress maintains quite well its shape, better than one in linen or cotton and can be used at office;
– Wool is considered the ideal fabric for summer dresses, especially when we talk about light fabric as “Super 100” or even lower. It does not get creased and allows to face the season without problems. Among the different types of wood the “mohair“, derived from a particular species of sheep, is one of the most suitable materials for a summer dress, indicated for evening ones, such as the tuxedo;
– Silk, a fabric that, if chosen in the right color, would make a summer dress perfect. The only flaw, if it can be defined as such, is that people generally associate this tissue to women, due to its sheen and softness, and so we often opt for other solutions;
– Cotton is very thin and light, features that make it perfect for a summer dress. The only drawback is that this tissue rubs in quickly, especially in the area of elbows and knees, creating pleats and folds that shorten the dress;
– Linen, purposely last in this description, is a fabric on which there is a huge debate since many argue that this material is only suitable for white towels. Linen dresses are definitely thin and light just like cotton ones, and with the same features, namely the formation of those “folds” which are not generally appreciated.
